Rookie Affiliate 911!

Are you like I was when I first decided to become an affiliate? I knew that being an affiliate meant that I could make money by selling someone’s product. If I was really good at it I could work from home in my pajamas and never have to punch a time clock again! I could spend more time with my family and not have to work for people who didn’t appreciate me! I could sleep in and set my own hours! I was so excited I could hardly wait! I WAS GOING TO BE AN AFFILIATE!

I practically tripped over my own two feet as I ran to my computer, sat down, turned it on waited anxiously for the search engine to arise, typed in “Affiliate Programs” and right then & there I was overwhelmed! There was page after page of listings and I was the “Rookie” not knowing which way to turn!
I was devastated; overwhelmed & could not believe my eyes!

This was a “Rookie Affiliate 911” emergency but I was not about to use any further keywords than what I had already utilized… I was devastated enough with the first two words I typed in!
Which program do I choose? Which one is best? How do I know? There’s so many!

So I began my research and here’s what I learned…

1. Ad Network Companies - Allow you to place banners on your site and pay you per click through.
2. Pay Per Sale Companies- Pay you a percentage of a sale when someone you refer buys a product from his or her site.
3. Contextual Ads- Are ads that are placed on your website based on the content of the page.
4. Data Feeds- Some affiliate programs offer data feeds – large amounts of products can be inserted on your site.
5. Pop-Ups & Banner Ads- Get paid for pop-ups –some offer payment for every 1000’s impression shown on your site some pay more, some pay less.
6. Multi-Tier Programs- You get paid on 3 levels of referrals or more …Example- If it’s a 3 Tier program Tier 1 is you, Tier 2 is the affiliate that joined under you and Tier 3 is the affiliate that joined under the Tier two affiliate. You get paid for your sales (Tier 1) / You get paid from the Tier 2 sales and you get paid from the Tier 3 sales.
7. Tier Two Programs- You get paid on 2 levels of referrals- Tier 1 is you – You get paid from your sales and Tier 2 is the affiliate that works under you – you get paid from Tier 2 sales.
8. Pay Per Lead Programs- Pay you for referring people to their sight that signs up for something.
9. Residual Income- Affiliate Programs that pay you lifetime commissions for your efforts.
10. Pay Per Click- You get paid per click through to the companies site.
11. Pay Per Click Search Engines-Search Engines that pay you per click through

Being a “Rookie Affiliate” can be frustrating and right out scary in the beginning because there are so many avenues to familiarize yourself with. Research is an absolute must, without it you will be doomed for failure! I discuss more about affiliate programs in another article on my site; it covers more in depth areas that you may find beneficial as well.
